She worked tirelessly for the refugees who came in from West Punjab at ‘partition’ and again for the refugees who came in from East Bengal in 1970-71. She has contributed enormously for the International Women’s Welfare Organisation in India and abroad. She was the Principal of Army College of Delhi during which she contributed enormously to the building of the Army Auditorium, New Delhi. 11. She will be remembered for ever for the work she has put in for handicapped and special children in recent years. 12. She leaves behind the bereaved General, their two daughters, son and their families. A number of members have not paid the annual subscription for the year 2007-08. MATTERS AFVOA Sathabhishekam of our President 1. 80 th Birthday of a person is a milestone in a his life. At this stage he become a Sahasra Chandra Darsani , one who has ‘seen a thousand moons’. In the AFVOA we take special care to honour our Octogenarians. 2. In keeping with traditions the offsprings of our President performed Sathabhishekam for their parents Maj Gen A Balasubrahmaniam and Mrs Kalpakasundari on 18 Dec 2007 at Sri Sringeri Pravachana Mandapam, Raja Annamalai Puram. The ceremonies of Sahasradhaarana Abhishekam and Mangalaya Dharanam were performed in a fitting manner as dictated by our ancient Aagama Shastras . 3. The function was well attended by friends and relatives. The AFVOA was well represented by many members including Lt Gen Sundara Rao, our Patron and Mrs Sundara Rao. ECHS Update 4. The fact that many leading hospitals in Chennai have declined to extend their services has caused a grave situation. However, the matter is likely to be resolved soon and the situation is expected to return to normal in the near future. CORE GROUP
