Both the houses of tambola were conducted by Brig VA Subramanyam ably assisted by Mrs Usha Subramanian. Flower Arrangement Competition. 3. The highlight of the day was the Flower Arrangement Competition for ladies. Flower arrangement, as we all know, is an ancient art which has captivated human imagination from times immemorial. Flowers themselves are one of the most beautiful creations of nature. The variety, attractiveness, shapes, petal arrangements, colors and fragrances that are found among flowers makes one wonder at the glorious creative potential of the Great Creator. 4. Since times immemorial poets have always compared ladies to flowers to highlight their beauty. Hence it was a fitting tribute to them that a flower arrangement competition was held. There were many entries and each of them was attractive and eye catching. To add to the effect it was a cool, cloudy day with a gentle Easterly breeze from the sea. Overall, those who took part and the spectators had a good time. 5. The judges were Mrs Sundara Rao, Mrs Pattabhiraman and Mrs Thomas. The deserving winners were Mrs Balasubramaniam, Mrs James and Mrs Chattaraman. Prizes were given away by Mrs Sundara Rao and Mrs. Pattabhiraman. The passing away of Mrs. Jayarukmani Naidu, W/o Maj Gen Aban Naidu, PVSM, AVSM on 23 Nov 2007 has left a deep sense of loss among the members of the AFVOA. She had a major hand in building up the strength and stature of the Association and it stands to her credit that inspite of her discomforts in later years she never missed a single meet. 9.
