The annual Armistice Day Service will be conducted at the St. Mary’s Church, Fort St. George, Chennai - 600 009 on Sunday, 11th November 2007. 11 November 1918, Armistice Day was the day fighting ended in what was then known as the Great War which was later designated as World War I. Since then that day has been kept as an anniversary. From 1946 it is kept as Remembrance Sunday the Sunday nearest to 11 November in commemoration of the fallen of the two World Wars. This year the two days coincide. 26. Rev Deborah Premraj, Presbyter & Chairperson of the St. Mary’s Church has extended an invitation to all Veterans to attend the Memorial Service along with family to honour those who had laid down their lives in those wars. MATTERS MILITARY PENSION UPDATES Restoration of Commuted Portion of Pension 1. The commuted portion of the pension will be restored by the Pension Disbursing Authority (PDA) after completion of 15 years without waiting for any formal application from the pensioner as per the following guidelines:- (i) Where the commuted portion of the pension ie., commuted value has been notified jointly, the commuted amount should be restored after 15 years from the date of retirement. (ii) In all other cases, where commutation led to a reduction in pension in the second or subsequent month, 15 years will reckon from the date of reduction of the amount of pension.
