Col KS Rajamani (Retd), who was commissioned into the Madras Sappers in 1964, has written a book titled “THE MEMORIES OF A MILITARY MAN”, the foreword for which has been written by none other than the legendary FM “Sam” Maneckshaw. The book, makes for pleasant and good reading, strongly evoking memories of one’s own career in the services, and is for sale at Rs 100. Col Rajamani resides at Coimbatore, and can be contacted on his email ID of lalli47@eth.net . Madras Gymkhana Club 17. The Club called for an EGM on 21 st Mar 2003, to pass a few resolutions. The import of a couple of resolutions was to ensure that Junior members graduate into Resident members in due course of time. If the resolution was allowed to pass, a stage would be reached when a large number of Resident members would have their progeny permanently ensconced in the Club. As it is, the Garrison members do not have the rights and privileges on par with Resident members. Passing the proposed resolution would further erode the rights of Garrison members. Hence, a representative resolution was proposed by a Garrison member to state that Garrison members should also be extended such rights. The Club Committee then decided to withdraw that resolution but other proposals were passed at that EGM. Meanwhile, an association named the Madras Gymkhana Club Garrison Retired Officers Welfare Association (MGCGROWA), has been formed. The primary object of this Association is to ensure that the rights and privileges of Garrison Retired Officers of the Madras Gymkhana Club are not diluted. As all of you may have noticed, over a period of time the Resident Members have totally sidelined the Garrison Members – both retired and serving and reduced the rights to such an extent that after sometime, it may be that this category may become an “extinct species”. 18.
