He mentioned that while perfection should always be our goal, it should not prevent us being more pragmatic in initially aiming for the achievable- in- the- short- term- if- less- than- perfect targets. Change was inevitable, and citing the Telephone Directory, as an example he brought out would certainly be out of date even on the date of release, such was the pace of life today. He evinced great pride in the fact that we had lion hearted members from Ahmedabad, Pondicherry, Vellore, and now, Trichy joining in and contributing to the AFVOA. He hoped that the new committee would continue to make further improvements in the organisation. 11. Tombola was the next item on the agenda. Two games were conducted in a practised and efficient manner by Mrs Latha Bharatan, whose gracious act of helping Brig Subramanyam brings to the forefront the very important role that better halves play in the Services for ensuring success in all ventures. All the prizes in the first game was a clean sweep for the ladies, who took away all the minor prizes as well as the full house which was won by Mrs Sashidharan. During the second house, the ladies again won all the minor prizes, but Lt Col V S Rajan, not only bagged the full house but also won the Snowball of Rs 1400.00. So enjoyable were the games, that most of the members stayed riveted to their seats even though dinner was announced after the first game. 12. The dinner was set up at two counters, and the catering was by Shri Naresh Maharaj, our regular. Food was superb, and since the majority of the 150 members present who had dinner had confirmed their attendance in advance, there was adequate to go around, leaving all members who attended most satisfied at the ambience of the venue, the evening, and the food. She requested that the AFVOA look into the possibility of setting up an Old Age Home. d) Maj R Krishnaswamy. e) Wg Cdr Mathews. f) Gp Capt LV Mohandas, who has superannuated from the faculty of the CDM, and is now with the CII at Chennai. g) Brig MN Seshadri of the AOC h) Air Cmde V Shanmugham, Accts, who is really an old member, but who, on account of his frequent out station trips on crucial dates, could not attend even a single meeting previously. i) Maj A N Sundar Raj of the Madras Sappers j) Cdr Vaidyanathan, who warmed our hearts by joining up as an outstation member from TRICHY.
