Page 9 of 61 department and the many organizations and services in uniform, and to our young aspirants in the NCC. Military Glory is the pinnacle of all glory. In Russia we have Cities of Military Glory. We had Hero Cities in the erstwhile Soviet Union. Nearer home we have certain districts in the State of Tamil Nadu that may qualify for the status of Hero Districts, districts that have the largest number of our young people who sacrificed their lives for the nation. Acknowledge them and deify the path to Glory. Assure them that their sacrifices will not be in vain and that they will be honoured and their memory will be kept alive. This will send out the right message to all our men and women who serve the country in uniform in some of the most challenging circumstances. Finally, let us all refresh ourselves on the meaning of supreme sacrifice. It is the laying down of one's life for one's country. Martyrs make the supreme sacrifice. We shall pay homage to our martyrs. We shall not break faith with them. We are doing so today and we shall continue do so in the years to come, not just as a ceremony but as an emotional tryst.
