Brig NB Subramanian suggested some improvements to the scheme and recommended that they be incorporated. President acknowledged the inputs and agreed that his views will be taken into account. President went on to say that wide consultations have been held. There is general agreement that LTS will help matters in a myriad ways. The Management Committee with the help of the Patron and some past Presidents, have devised a table for LTS. Some fine tuning is possible and that can be done. Those unwilling to pay LTS may pay on an annual basis. President reminded the members that LTS covers the member as also the spouse after the demise of the member. Maj Gen C Govindaswamy expressed his reservations on the scheme and said that we are financially well off and so there is no need to implement this scheme. Brig NB Subramanian said that there have been cases where LTS has been collected and spent unwisely, thereby creating serious problems to the organization. President clarified that LTS is not to enrich the organization but to give the members the benefit of our financial standing. He also drew attention of the members of the fact that LTS is the order of the day and many professional and social institutions have this arrangement. Maj Gens Viswananthan and Kartikeyan have indicated their support to the scheme. Lt Gen Sundara Rao recommended the scheme. After considerable debate, the proposal was put to vote. The show of hands did not indicate a clear majority for implementation of the scheme. Decision: It was decided that the proposal for LTS will be reconsidered after more consultations and discussions with the members. If necessary, the proposal will be placed for consideration in a subsequent meeting. Establishment and Upkeep of Office Premises This point submitted by the Management Committee was withdrawn on the grounds that some ad hoc arrangements will be tried out and if that works well, there will be no need to employ a part time office and accounts executive. If however, these ad hoc arrangements are not satisfactory, then the point will be resubmitted for consideration in a subsequent meeting. Conclusion President thanked the members for their patience and appreciated their cooperation and support in the efficient conduct of the meeting. In his closing remarks, Patron thanked the President, office bearers and all members for the hearty discussions at the AGM. He requested more members to volunteer for offices in the Executive Committee and other activities of the Association. In particular, he wished that Naval and Air Force veterans take part in the activities to a greater extent.
