Page 57 of 80 If Rs 300 was a fair subscription a decade ago will it continue to be a fair subscription one decade later? As the years roll by, we will tighten our belts. But, we also need to put in place a cash flow that will sustain us very modestly. We are aware that the membership of AFVOA is not growing. This is of concern. If there is some growth we will have more cash flows and expand on our activities. At this juncture, Cdr Vaidyanathan and Col Hariharan pointed out that on one hand we have decided to increase the contribution from the Association towards cost of meals to Rs 50 per head on every meet. If a couple attend four meets, then the Association would have already made a contribution of Rs 400, so how can we insist on keeping the subscription at Rs 300? Many of the members affirmed their agreement. Thereafter the proposal was put to vote. A clear majority opted to increase the subscription from Rs 300 to Rs 400 commencing 01 Apr 2013. Decision: From 01 Apr 2013, the annual membership subscription stands increased to Rs 400 per annum. Army Bar at Gymkhana Club Annexe at Guindy Lt Col RMS Nair requested that the services of Army Bar be provided at Golf Annexe of Gymkhana Club at Guindy. Decision: President assured the members that this is a good point and the same will be taken up with GOC, HQ ATNK&K Area. RSI at Chennai Col B Jayaraj submitted that Chennai sorely needs an RSI, preferably in the St Thomas Mount area. Decision: President said that he will take this up with GOC, HQ ATNK&K Area. Termination of Membership of Lt Col CR Sunder Lt Col R Subramanaiam submitted that e x pulsion should be the prerogative of the General Body and not the Management Committee. President said that the Management Committee is fully empowered as per the bye-laws to take such action. Discussion: Some of the members wanted to know as to what exactly was the reason for taking such an action. President explained in detail the chronology of events and the contents of the email sent by the officer. Members expressed their anguish on the actions of Col Sunder and said that the Association has done the right thing. Decision : The Association has taken the right action and therefore members support the termination of membership.
