For quite some time now, the caterer has been providing lunch or dinner at a fixed cost of Rs 100 per plate. He has been, quite legitimately, agitating for an increase in this amount. Of late we could see the “corners cut’ in his menu as also the quantity of food that comes on the table. Often times those coming in last have not been served some of the dishes simply because they ran out. It has been under consideration whether this amount could be increased to Rs 125. Members will pay Rs 100 per plate and the Association will pitch in with Rs 25. The Management Committee wishes to implement this from the next meet. Our ladies have been our strength and that is so even after we became veterans. The Ladies Clubs are always active and come up with various interesting programs as and when they meet. I call upon our ladies to contribute to making our meets more interesting. Some of our ladies are doing their bit, may I request our other talented and creative ladies to expand on what is already happening so that each of our meets is made memorable. We are pleased and proud that many of our veterans in Chennai are well employed in the corporate sector. It will be our privilege to meet these worthies and hear them in our meets. I request their presence in our meets and if they call us and tell us, we can arrange their introduction and a short talk by them giving us details of what they do and their contribution to society. Those of us, who are in touch with these people, do convey our request to them and encourage them to talk to me or any of us. With best wishes Maj Gen CT Chari MEETING GONE BY: THE MEETING HELD ON 14 APR 2012 It was an auspicious day.14 Apr 2012 was Ambedkar’s Birthday. It was a closed holiday, and we were apprehensive whether the Sainik Institute will be available to us for our meet. By a generous gesture on the part of the HQs Area, we were granted permission to use the facility. Promptly at 10:30 am, tombola activity started. The houses were played with the usual gusto. New faces won some money and the die-hards took their share of the wealth. The air-conditioned ambience wowed the attendees. Lt Col SJ Bhaskar Rao was very appreciative of the choice of location and said that he never imagined that a Sainik Institute will have such facilities.
