Page 26 of 44 Obituary. It is with regret that AFVOA wishes to intimate the demise of our senior veteran member Major A. Francis Xavier, Signals. Few months ago, he had lost his wife, and was being looked after by his two daughters. He was 82 years old and was ailing and died on 21Jul2011. As a very noble gesture from the family and as per his own desire, the body of Maj Francis was donated for research purposes to The Ramchandra Research centre and Hospital at Chennai. After the completion of official/legal formalities, a small remnant of the body was handed over to the family to carry out the religious formalities. Accordingly, Ms Loretto Xavier, the daughter, intimated us about the funeral/internment ceremony that was held at the Quibble Island Cemetry, Chennai on 6 August. Amongst other mourners, a wreath was placed on behalf of AFVOA and personal contact was established with family members for affording any help.
