We also convey a big thank you to Brig VA Subramanyam for conducting three houses of tamboia. After the vote of thanks and distribution of gifts / prizes the assembled picnickers collected their dinner packets. This is another of our innovations. The dinner packets save ladies from having to start with the drudgery of cooking when they get home. The buses were once again loaded and reached the Youth Hostel from where the happy Veterans and families dispersed after a day of rollicking fun. Bi-Monthly Meeting The next bi-monthly meeting will be on 21 Mar 2010. This will be a day meeting at the Palm Grove Ecological Park and Sports Complex, Institute, Island grounds, Chennai. This will be a cultural meet with the events being organised by Sqn Ldr Unni Nair. The meet as well as the event will commence at 1100 h. Contribution for dinner will be Rs 75/- per person and the cheques towards the same may please be sent to the treasurer, Lt Col M Narayanan, Old No 6, (New No 9), 20 th East St, Kamarajar Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai- 41. We live in a moment of history where change is so speeded up that we begin to see the present only when it is already disappearing RD Laing Obituary Lt Col R Ranganathan, VSM, Engrs (Bengal Sappers) passed away on 19 Feb and cremated on 23 Feb. He was an active member of the AFVOA and he has bequeathed all his savings to a trust created for the welfare of Ex- Servicemen. LaFontaine From the President's Desk The New Year 2010 for the Veterans of the AFVOA has dawned quite impressively. We had our Annual Picnic at Camp Gloria on the 24 Jan2010.The response was very good. We had nearly 200 Members / Guests embracing the event. All the same the get together was most enjoyable. The GOC, ATNK&KArea, and AOC, Tamabram with their families were very kind to honour our invitation and participate in the Picnic. The games were well organized. Sponsors for games also met the
