The Madambakkam Water Team lead by Gp Capt BR Bapu and consisting of Col Devanathan, Lt Cdr Vijay, Wg Cdr Natarajan, Srivatsan, Col Sashidharan, Col Gopalan, Gp Capt Palanisamy, Col A Krishnaswamy, VrC, VSM** and Rohit won the game. The next game was Look Before you Leap. Col A Krishnaswamy, VrC, VSM**, Lt Col Venkatesan, Col Reddy, Maj Chandrasekar, Brig Mathew and Aman Thyagi won the game. The GOC ATNK&K Area Maj Gen Nitin Kohli along with Mrs Kohli and Air Cmde Sanjay Sharma, AOC Tambaram were kind enough to join us and be part of the Picnic. We are thankful to them for having joined us amidst their busy schedules. The assembled families and Veterans enjoyed sing-song sessions and Musical Chair games. After a sumptuous lunch the crowd moved indoors. Three houses of Tambola were played. In the first house Top Line was carried away by Brig (Mrs) Muthulaxmi, Center Line was shared by Wg Cdr Gopal and Wg Cdr Natarajan. The Bottom Line went to Dr. Nithya. Full House of Rs. 500 and SnowBall of Rs. 1,600 went to Lt Col A Eusobius. The Out House went to Brig George Mathew. In the next House Jaldi Five went to Mrs Kumuda Ranganathan, Queens Corner went to Wg Cdr Shaukat Ali and Kings Corner was shared by Col Raj and Col Venugaopal. Bamboo went to Mrs Sundar Rajan and full house was won by Sqn Ldr Subramaniam and out house went to Col Raj. In the last house Jonah went to Mrs Mariam Thomas and Rajitha. ‘I Love You’ went to Mrs Mathew and the first full house of Rs. 700/- went to Mrs Laksmi Pattabhiraman. The second full house of Rs. 200 went to Mrs Devi Ratan and the third full house went to Lt Col Raj Mohan. The GOC in his address conveyed his pleasure at having been part of such a lively and joyous gathering of elders. He appreciated the work put in by the organizers and stated that he would in the future too provide all necessary assistance. Mrs Nitin Kohli wished every one a long life. The AOC Tambaram, in his brief address stated that he was happy to note that his retired life would be pleasant. Col Narayanan, our Treasurer needs to be given a special thanks, appreciation and a pat on his back. One of the main reasons for the success of the picnic is his vast experience, deep involvement and early preparation. The coupon system introduced by him was a great success and ensured distributions to such a large gathering within the short time available went without a hitch. There is no getting away from the fact that what makes the Picnic such an attractive event is the carry away gifts galore, the large number of prizes given away and the ‘Tamboola’ bag given at the end of the event. We owe a mighty thanks in this regard to Col Rl Subramanian and his ever cheerful better half Mrs. Usha Subramanian. Mrs Usha Sundar who sponsored the prizes for the ‘Spot the News’ game also deserves our thanks.
