Thank you. GOD BLESS. Executive Committee Meeting Held on 14 Feb 2008 1. An Executive Committee Meeting of the AFVOA was held at No. 1, Oliver Road, Mylapore, Chennai – 600 004, the residence of Maj Gen A Balasubrahmanian AVSM, President AFVOA, on Thursday, 14 Feb 2008 at 1030 hrs. Minutes of Last Meeting. 3. Minutes of the last Executive Committee Meeting held on 20 Nov 2008 were read out by the Secretary. The discussions were as follows:- (a) Regarding the office in the Old MH Complex the President opined that since we are likely to move to the old MNS Mess accommodation we should delay the fixing of air conditioners. The balance of Rs. 27,223.00 with 25 MADRAS may be handed over to the relieving unit as per directions of Area HQ. (b) Telphone Directory. Col A Krishnaswamy suggested that the cut off date for the Directory of 2009 be 31 Dec 2008. The Directory could be made ready by Feb 2009 and released at a suitable function in Mar 2009. (c) On SURYASTHAMAN Maj Gen R Karthikeyan said that the same was nearly ready. The President opined that a small, action oriented, quick reference compendium should be brought out at the earliest. It was felt that the book should be given free to all members. (d) Annual Picnic. Col A Krishnaswamy stated that while great efforts had been put in to make the Picnic a success he was anguished and pained by an event which took place during the Picnic. One of the members rudely interrupted an invitee when he was introducing a guest speaker. Such occurrences need to be avoided. (e) ECHS (i) The Secretary stated that all major hospitals have signed up with ECHS and Apollo Hospitals is likely to sign up soon. He also stated that the ECHS would give Death Certificates in respects of ECHS members under treatment. (ii) Maj Gen R Karthikeyan stated that recording a note of thanks for Col Reddy would be in order for the great services rendered by him to ECHS and to Veterans. 5. Thanks for the Picnic. The President expressed his gratitude to all those who took active part in the preparation for and during the Annual Picnic held on 20 Jan 2008 and worked so hard to make it a thumping success. Special thanks were placed on record to the following:- (a) Maj Gen EJ Kochekkan, AVSM, SM, VSM, GOC ATNK&K Area who was kind enough to attend the Picnic and for his generous offer to foot the bill and also to Mrs. Kochekkan who was kind enough to attend.
