All prizes and gifts were arranged for and made available to us by this generous veteran. Our hearty thanks also goes to Mrs Usha Subramanian and her daughters. It was they who so painstakingly packed and wrapped all that was given away during the function. Dinner Packets 23. Dinner packets were given to all those who attended the picnic so that ladies who attended need not go home and prepare dinner. Dispersal 24. At 1700 hrs the buses with veterans and families duly boarded in left the venue of the Picnic. Thus a most memorable and joyful day came to a happy end. (b) Brig (Dr) GV Ramani, VSM Consultant in ENT and Ex-Professor of Armed Forces Medical College, Pune passed away on 29 Jan 2008 at MH Chennai. (c) Lt Col MR Sathyanesan passed away on 08 Feb 2008 All members of the AFVOA convey their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the soul of the dear departed to rest in peace. An Acknowledgement For the Homage / Tribute to Mrs. Jayarukmini Naidu M.A., from Maj Gen Aban Naidu, PVSM, AVSM, M in D 2. It is difficult to find appropriate words to adequately express my feelings for the tributes offered by the President and Members of the Armed Forces Veteran Officers Association, through their messages so beautifully crafted in praise of my beloved wife Jaya, as she was endearingly called, which appeared in the last issue of the Newsletter. 3. She was 83 years of age and lived a blissful married life for sixty one years. A lovable lady, possessed with ‘Regal Mould’ who contributed immeasurably to Social Welfare Services, while I was still in military service, to the families of uniformed men, during peace and war. Similarly, she projected the image of our Nation while we were posted abroad in Washington DC, USA, and in Ottawa, Canada. Her extraordinary service in providing relief to the refugees from East Pakistan who poured into India causing economic, social and political problems is note worthy. While this be so, I now feel singled out and know that this is the ordainment of God. I do miss the physical presence and companionship of my wife, but I follow what is said below: • It is said that the soul is invisible, inconceivable, unforgettable and immutable.
