In the Second House prizes were won by Mrs. Vasanthi Mathews, Mrs. Ranganathan, Col Kasthuri raj, Mrs. Kalpakasundari Balasubramanian, Mrs. Rajan and Mrs. Sushila Balakrishnan. The First Full House went to Mrs. Bail and the Second Full House was shared by Gp Capt Ashok and Col Alexander. 2. Announcements by the Secretary. The Secretary made the following announcements:- (a) The GOC was kind enough to meet the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer of our Association at his office on 13 Jun. The GOC was extremely appreciative of the AFVOA. He said it is an excellent effort and wished that we could help start it in other states and interact with those already existing. Important points that were discussed are as follows:- (i) He was happy with the progress being made in occupying the AFVOA office in the Old MH Complex. (iib) All problems of the ECHS will be looked into in the forthcoming assessment in 2008. (iii) Plans to have a DSOI in the Island Grounds have made progress. The Navy will be putting up a swimming pool along side which a futuristic Club House will come up. (b) The New AFVOA Office. Thanks to the previous committee we have excellent premises in the Old MH Complex better known as Veterans Complex and a grant of Rs. 2 lakhs for furnishing the office. Out of this amount board proceedings for purchase of major items such as ACs, computer tables and chairs worth Rs. 1.55 lakhs has been completed and sanctions received. Items will be procured by the good offices of 25 MADRAS, Deccan Devils. I will be informing you about the progress. With the establishment of this office we will have our own address. (c) Blog. We now have a blog of our own. The address is afvoa.blogspot.com . Happy blogging. (d) Good News. Mrs. Sundara Rao, our Patron’s lady wife has been invited to join the Kendriya Sainik Board as a Non-Official Member. For your information the Kendriya Sainik Board is headed by the Raksha Mantri and the Three Chiefs are Members. This is a great honour to all of us. 3. Obituary. The AFVOA regrets the passing away of the following:- (a) Lt Col George Clifton, Brigade of the GUARDS, passed away on 09 Jun 2007. The funeral was the next day at Anna Nagar and our President laid a wreath on behalf of all of us. (b) Col (Dr) Raghavan, age 63, passed away on 11 Jun 2007 at Stony Brook USA leaving behind his wife son and daughter. (c) Mrs. Agnes Thamburaj (83) W/o Late Col Thamburaj passed away on 13 Jun 2007 at
