Page 34 of 68 levels of jobs, seeking due recognition on the basis of demonstrated ability. Maj Gen S.D.Singh highlighted examples of how ones confidence in own abilities, in taking over and excelling in assignments seemingly unfamiliar, which result in surfacing latent entrepreunerial talents. Wg Cdr T.R. Shankaran (Reliance Retail)saw the relevance of ESMs to retailing reaching out to Urban interiors and Rural spreads for global products (the concept of Global Villages) and such extensions for banking and health care (Tele-medicine) all leading to social transformation. Capt S. Ravi (CEO, Pegasus Institute for HR Excellence) and Sri S. Ganguli (GM Pers & HRD, L&T) saw the scope for learning and continued training as challenging fields for involvement for ESM's whilst Shri Cn H Sharma (Bharati AXA Life)saw great scope for self employment in the Insurance Sector for ESM and their family members especially in the transition to pensions and health care sectors on a nation-wide basis. Shri Mohan Babu (JSW Steel) foresaw creation of many new Industrial townships such as their Bellary Project that would rehabilitate multi skilled teams to establish technological, managerial, social and environmental needs of the township through an integrated plan. In the dominant field of ITES, Sri K. Ganesan (Global head for learning and Development, TCS) saw merit in a closer interaction through an apprenticeship of the ESM with the employer company for a few months prior to absorption on a formal basis. It was a considered view, that when there is an enormous scope, our inroads into the major industries at the top echelons alone get into public view whilst our thrust into the medium and small industries which would accommodate proportionately significant numbers, have not been seriously addressed. The spread into smaller industrial belts being created need to be explored. Even small towns and rural environs need to be covered. Infrastructural sectors as Telecommunications, ITES, Marketing and Disaster Management would be avenues for extensive employment spread over the country. With such a wide scope and the concerns for positioning the right HR in a speedy manner, the process of Resettlement of the individual ESM to the needs of the employer through matching of QR/Bio-data and opening up for mutual understanding needs to be done with speed and therefore call for a highly decentralised approach for achieving results all over the country. There are instances where the veterans in the NCR have made such contributions. In Chennai Dominant industries relating to Automobiles, IT, Leather, Engineering, Textiles, Professional Education, Export of Garments, and industries generally enabled through IT - all these offer scope for the IT trained personnel across the ESM community. Our AFVOA in Chennai would be happy to gather relevant expertise to support DGR initiatives in this region.
