Our concern in the AFVOA is merely to ascertain whether the aspect of ‘help’ is available to you and your kin, or not. That is the purpose of the “Core Group” concept. “ASK AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN UNTO YOU”. We wish you the very best and collectively pray that you do not have the requirement to “ASK AND SEEK” for help but be always in a position to “HELP OTHERS” for a long time. By the time this Newsletter reaches your hands, the activity graph of the AFVOA is approaching its customary seasonal peak, with of course, some pleasant surprises in store. You all already know about the picnic, covered adequately later in this letter. I had also hinted at a “Day out at Sea”, being hosted by our Thatrakshaks; again details are to be found elsewhere in this letter. The Executive Committee and the co-opted members have enthusiastically put forward many good ideas to make the above events different in many ways. So, turn up in good numbers and don’t miss out on the fun and frolic in the New Year. 6. We extend our heartiest congratulations and felicitations to Maj Gen & Mrs B Sivasankar on the auspicious occasion of the wedding of their son, Major Rajiv with Ms Lakshmi. As you all are aware, Maj Rajiv is posted with the Area HQ as the ADC to the GOC. We wish the newly wedded couple a happy, healthy, prosperous and long married life. 7. I had called on Maj Gen RK Swamy, VSM, Commandant, OTA who evinced keen interest in our set up and activities. As a harbinger, he has offered a most sonciderate proposal to invite maximum members and ladies, to OTA for a nice visit to culminate in an interaction with the Cadets over lunch in Feb 2007, the details of which are being coordinated. We, on your collective behalf have wished him and his wife an enjoyable and productive tenure at Chennai. 8. Meanwhile, the intervening December augurs the auspicious concert season with a spectrum of activities in various theatres and Sabhas that usually we leave it free for the members to savour these audio visual treats as they like it. We already had an exposure to “Life & Music” and it is a good time to put those valuable pieces of advice and tips to good use to elevate ourselves culturally and spiritually. There will be plenty to exchange views at the picnic. 9. It is also time to bid adieu to the current year and ring in the New Year. Yet another gala season and the Chennai climate is most accommodating, if you take the traffic and pollution for granted! We, the members of the Executive Committee take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you and yours the “Very Best of Everything in 2007”! As a good and no cost option for a New Year resolution, may I suggest you consider being a ‘donor’. I mean donor of organs! The Reader’s Digest (Nov issue) has covered it all lucidly including a RD Donor Card to be filled and carried by you. That is one way of ensuring charity even beyond infinity!
