Seven blunders of the world that lead to violence: wealth without work, pleasure without conscience, knowledge without character, commerce without morality, science without humanity, worship without sacrifice, politics without principle. - Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948) From The Editorial Team Dear Veterans, 1. Our Editorial Team has been constantly avoiding the use of the first person singular term ‘ I ‘, while expressing our thoughts. It is our firm belief that we, as an Association of members should always strive and work on the principle of “ One for All and All for One “. We all should rise to an occasion, when it demands and put our collective effort and wisdom to it to obtain the bet results. 2. To a large extent, our effort in this direction has been functioning very satisfactorily. Our members, willingly volunteer to take on assignments to share a common responsibility. Some of us even bear additional load, without a murmur. Some do silent work, remain in the background and accept the workload with a smile. Three cheers to the concept of the AFVOA and kudos to the community of Veterans. Let us forge ahead and be of assistance to each other and continue to be “ do gooders “ for all. 3. We wish to share with you, an observation. We notice from your response that the concept of “Core Groups” envisaged by the AFVOA, needs to sink in more amidst its members. Presently, we feel that members have certain reservations, on its necessity, utility, functioning and an apprehension of intrusion into the privacy regarding funeral and other aspects. We wish to categorically allay such impressions. Nothing can be further than truth. It is the members’ decision to share or keep us posted with developments, in case you feel that your erstwhile comrades in arms would come to your or your kin’s help in an emergency.
