Page 61 of 77 days and the total expenses to be met by ECHS were Rs1.93 lacs+ Rs.17, 000 for angio and Rs.10, 000 for 64 slices. I am grateful to the ECHS for not only meeting the expenses but also for their prompt responses. I am very grateful to God who helped me to go the hospital on my own without heart attack and for the successful operation. MMM is not a hospital, it is a seven star hotel if you take into account the ambience, cleanliness, and the medical facilities. I shared my experience in details for the following reasons:- (a) We are in the same age group – I am 75 years old. (b) If any body is having Diabetes and high BP, it is better to take a baby Aspirin or Ecosprin as a routine every day. It is reported to be having no side effects. (c) If you are experience High BP and no doctor readily available, taking a full aspirin may help to reduce the BP. Keeping an aspirin handy may be useful. (d) People who are prone to high BP are advised to keep a sphygmomanometer (BP measuring instrument) and learn its operation. (e) Believe in Electrocardiogram (ECG) as Echo cardiogram may not give the whole truth. (f) The medicines given for BP should not be taken for more than six months with out a review by a cardiologist. (g) I was advised angiography twice, in 2003 and 2005. It was deferred by the cardiologists. Nowadays 64 scan is available to decide about angiography. (h) A person with diabetes and BP has to monitor his heart closely and regularly. I was very lucky. The combination of Diabetes and High BP is a silent killer. (j) Take all the permission from ECHS and approval from MH at every stage of investigation, and follow up so that there is no delay in providing treatment and payment. In my case the investigation, detection, solution, approval and operation were all completed with in 9 days.
