Her husband Mr Mudra Bhaskar, the man behind her musical endeavours and a renowned Mirudangist himself, had graced the occasion as our honoured guest. The programme commenced with a short briefing from our President, Maj Gen R Karthikeyan, interalia high lighting as to how impressed he was, when he participated in an earlier Music Appreciation Programme conducted by Dr (Mrs) Rahda Bhaskar at Bharathiya Vidhya Bhawan. This prompted the idea of our inviting Dr (Mrs) Radha Bhaskar to present her musical visions to our veterans, which would be the day's main event. Following this, Brig N B Subramanian introduced the artiste and the subject of the day to the audience. Dr Radha's fluent presentation, interspersed with soothing music, filled the hall with joy and touched the hearts of the veteran members. The thunderous applause from the audience was in appreciation of the artist’s fine performance. Some of the members expressed their desire to take part in their next Music Appreciation Course. As a token of our appreciation the Patron presented a ‘Ponnadai’ to Dr (Mrs) Radha Bhaskar and a memento along with a copy of “Hello Veterans-2004” to Mr. Mudra Bhaskar. Anniversary cake cutting. The twelfth anniversary cake cutting followed the music programme with Lt Gen C Sundara Rao, our Patron doing the honours. It was ensured that all members and families present were served pieces of the cake. The Government has announced the following appointments:- (a) Vice Admiral Sureesh Mehta, PVSM, AVSM, presently FOC-in-C Eastern Naval Command as the next Chief of Naval staff wef 01 Nov 2006. (b) Vice Admiral Rustom Feramroze Contractor has taken over as the Director General, Coast Guard wef 01 Sep 2006. (c) Lt Gen Thomas Mathew has taken over as the Adjutant General, at Army HQ wef 01 Sep 2006. (d) Lt Gen IJ Koshy, has taken over as Director General (Ceremonials & Welfare) at the Army HQ.
