The ESM helpline and the Army Placement Node were inaugurated by the Maj Gen B Sivasankar, VSM, GOC, ATNK&K Area at 1000 hrs on 17 Aug 2006 at Fort St George, Chennai. A large number of ESM turned out for the function. The inaugural address was given by the GOC which was followed by speeches from Maj Gen R Karthikeyan, President, AFVOA and Col RI Subramanian, Secretary General, Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI). Cdr L Radhakrishnan, O i/c Army Welfare Education Society, who gave a presentation on the Army Placement Node said that a modest beginning had been made and was hopeful of placing more ESM on jobs with the cooperation of the MCCI. Col Sampath Gopalan, DDEME, HQ ATNK&K Area who presented the concept of ESM helpline stated that all those interested could obtain various types of info concerning ESM from the website: www. esmhelpline.com. The vote of thanks was given by Brig Money, Stn Cdr, Chennai. Both the establishments will function from the ground floor of the old Stn HQ bldg opposite the parade ground. The location will not only create more awareness in the eyes of the public but also hopefully facilitate closer interaction with the State Govt, with the proximity of the Secretariat.
