With the effort and monetary contribution by Maj Gen R Karthikeyan, our Vice President, we could wear the attractive AFVOA Membership badge, on that day. The President requested the members to wear this during all our meetings to exhibit and promote the spirit of camaraderie. On behalf of the members, the President thanked Maj Gen Karthikeyan for this thoughtful and appropriate badge of recognition for the Association. 34. The President complimented Mrs. Prema Balachandran for her being elevated to the position of Principal of Quaid-e-Millat Govt College for Women, Chennai. This was in recognition of her merit, hard work and distinguished service. The Members applauded the announcement and complimented her on this great achievement. The President and Members wished her the very best in the coming years. 35. The Secretary then requested Col A Krishnaswami to be the MC for the games session of the picnic The MC explained to all the Members regarding the planned events for the picnic and the names of the various events and method of their conduct by the event coordinators. Ground rules were laid to enable easy, smooth and fair conduct of the games. The Members spontaneously accepted them. The major decisions of the Managing Committee, taken earlier with regard to the games were as follows:- (a) Games should preferably be group games to ensure maximum participation. (b) A Group declared the winner in one game is eligible to get the prize for that game However even if it is declared the winner in any subsequent game, it will not be eligible for a prize which will be awarded to the runner-up. The winning group will however get an applause from the audience for their excellent effort. This would ensure that there is a broader base of prize winners. 36. The following games were conducted:- (a) Word World & Flower Riddle by Mrs. Prema Balachandran This game evoked considerable interest and Members displayed enthusiasm by silently working out their answers in their respective groups and were anxious to complete the answer forms within the stipulated time. That apart, they wanted a copy of the game and the correct answers after the event. To enable the Members keep a record of this game, AFVOA will be pleased to hand over the same to all Members during the meeting on 05 Mar 2006. (b) Skill & Speed by Mrs. Usha Sundar The organizers, Lt Col and Mrs CR Sundar had put in a lot of effort to prepare and conduct this game Regrettably the Members did not cooperate in the initial stages and the MC had to intervene to countermand two sections of the game and permit continuance only after confirmation from the participants that they would enable smooth conduct of the remaining sections. (c) People. Events & Places by Mrs. Chitkala Govindaswamy
