Contrast this to the suave man of few words, Rajyavardhan Rathore, who has waited for more than a year to take the Army’s clearance for Ad endorsements. But Inshallah, he has the most chance for getting an individual Gold Medal after winning the first ever silver medal for the Country. I wish these youngsters all the best in their quest, but the lay public could learn to act with moderation and not fall for the hype. 26. With this I sign off, leaving the veterans and their spouses to ponder over my views on the subjects which would be of interest to the older generation. Regretfully as the days pass by our views assume a miniscule proportion as against the majority opinion. Meeting Gone By - A Resume 27. The fifth bi-monthly meeting for the year 2005-06 was the Annual picnic held on 08 Jan 2006 at “Camp Gloria”. It is truly a glorious location. We are patronizing this location for the last four years. The Members are also happy. 28. The Members who attended the picnic were handed their breakfast packs as they boarded the Army buses positioned outside the Youth Hostel. Hot tea was served on arrival at Camp Gloria. The interaction between Members lasted from 0930 hrs to 1000 hrs in the casuarina park. The Secretary announced the day’s programme with the time schedules and requested the Members to assemble at the auditorium to enable commencement of the first session. He requested the Members to cooperate with the organizers by adhering to the time schedules and also the various rules of the game to make the events enjoyable and also ensure timely completion. Thereafter the routine items commenced. 29. Introduction of new Member. AVM (Retd) RV Bhalla, AVSM joined as our new member. While introducing himself, he mentioned that he has recently moved to Chennai. Mrs. Bhalla could not attend the meeting as she was indisposed. All Members welcomed him 30. Announcements. (a) Subscriptions. Members were requested to pay their subscriptions for the year 2005-06 dues if any and also for the year 2006-07. Members were also advised to collect their receipts before leaving the picnic area. (b) Master Data Sheet (MDS). Members were informed that there were still more than 50 % of the Officers who had not handed over the MDS and hence requested all concerned to do the needful at the earliest. (c) E-mail IDs. E-mail IDs of only 93 Members were available and hence the Secretary requested all others who have E-mail ID to furnish the same to make it easier and faster to communicate to the members. 31. The President welcomed all the Members and complimented the organizing committee for their sincere efforts and hard work in getting the picnic on tack. He conveyed to all members the enormous amount of planning and preparation that is required for organizing this annual event. Every Member looks forward to this picnic and it has become very popular. The present strength of 150 Members and families attending this event bears testimony to this. He exhorted all Members to enjoy themselves and relish the menu that was circulated in advance as a Bill of Fare for the day. 32. The President, on behalf of all those present, wished speedy recovery of a couple of our members, Air Marshal Raghavan and Maj Gen Balasubramanian, who had been indisposed and could not attend the picnic. He also thanked our member, Col Rl Subramanian for his generosity and yeoman service that he has been rendering to the Association ever since its
