At this point, it is worth sharing with all of you, certain matters concerning the catering arrangements. In spite of the fact, that in every Newsletter, members are requested to confirm their attendance, generally, very few members do so. The Committee has perforce no option but to order food on the basis of guestimates. This has its inherent drawbacks. These being, that on occasions, quite a few members who had confirmed their coming had to go without anything, as they went late to the counter. On other occasions, it was found that a few members “forgot” to pay for the refreshments that they consumed. At other times, the caterer had to recycle plates, - as the numbers catered for were less than the actual turn out - and as such correct figures of numbers being paid for went awry. During the last meeting, though 140 confirmations were received, 179 actually turned up, and thus caused shortages, resulting in a number of persons going without food - having paid. 21. In order to overcome the above, it is proposed to issue coupons for the refreshments. This will ensure that the caterer is paid only on the number of coupons that he collects. This proposal is planned to be brought into effect from the Meeting to be held in December this year. In case members have any better suggestions to offer they are welcome to forward the same at the earliest. For Your Information Please!
