As a layman I never was aware of the nuances and background efforts that go into creating a website. Vartha Sir, Ravi and me had many meetings over Zoom and conference calls on telephone running into hours to build our website. Terms like Wireframe, Place holders etc were Latin & Greek to me. Ravi did all the backend programing effort and Vartha Sir and I were responsible for drafting all the contents for Ravi. After more than four weeks of effort we had our own website. Kudos to Ravi for his whole hearted support for this project which really shot up the image of AFVOA and our reach became universal. Not to forget that Ravi saved our association tens of thousands of rupees which otherwise we would have had to incur had we gone to professional web designers. In just about 10 months, the footprint achieved by our website is as below: Newsletters. Many of our founder members had a pang of regret that AFVOA Newsletter was not being published over the last few years and expressed their desire that this committee must make a sincere effort to revive it. So to get it going, Vartha Sir first formed the Editorial committee consisting of Ravi, himself and me. We went about the task by going through our newsletters of the past, looking around the web for newsletters of other clubs, organisations etc to get a rough idea of what format we should have to get the newsletter going. As we started working on it, things started to fall in shape and we got enormous support from our members and spouses who ably supported us with their articles. This gave us immense confidence that we will be successful in our endeavour. Early in this cycle, when we were still discussing the format, a suggestion came from Ravi that the Newsletter to be in an eBook format, which is accessible online, both from Desktop / Laptop as well as Smartphone. Besides being trendy, the eBooks are eco- friendly and are paperless, which will also totally eliminate the need for printing and posting of the Newsletter to all members.
