Men In Blue I then had to go to the residence of Brig V A Subramanyam who was detailed as the Election Officer and submit my application. Subby Sir scrutinised the application and cleared it. The election was held on 06 Oct 19 and the whole team was elected unopposed. Hurrah- we now had a full Air Force Team in place and the Blues took over the reins of AFVOA. My initial thoughts about the job profile of Secretary was that it was a Kushi one; organise bi-monthly meetings including an annual picnic and so it would be six events in a year and send a few mails about wreath laying ceremony etc and that’s that. Well, I was not totally wrong in my thinking till then, till the changes were ringed in by the men in blue. In our initial discussions, Vartha Sir made clear about certain initiatives that he had in mind which included creating the AFVOA Website, reviving the past tradition of Newsletters, requesting members to resort to online payments etc. We now felt the need to have in our Team an expert in Information Technology who would lead the efforts for setting of website and all the other digital initiatives. Now the only name that came to my mind was Wg Cdr C Ravishankar, another good old Air Force colleague, whom I have known for over 40 years. I felt hat he was the right person since Ravi had spearheaded a lot of IT initiatives in Air Force. I proposed name of Ravi to Vartha Sir and Ravi joined us as I T Consultant. Rest as they say is history. Thus was born Team Vartha - Vartha, Raja, Bala, Harsha and Ravi. From the time we took over we started with our initial baby steps. After a few weeks we as a team started taking bigger strides and we are now literally on a run. As a team we have undertaken many new tasks which we never even thought out before. An idea would crop up in one of our minds and then we would have a brain storming session and sincerely worked on it. All the new ideas culminated in Team Vartha taking up many newwell thought out initiatives. I nowwish to highlight the tremendous effort that went in to some of the major tasks that we initiated.
