Page 55 of 61 Appointment of Auditors for the FY 2012-2013 It was recommended by the President that Messrs Bhaskar Shenoy and Partners be appointed as auditors for the FY 2013-2014, with an increased annual fee of Rs Two thousand. This recommendation was proposed by Maj Gen N Viswanathan and seconded by Brig Durga Bai.. Discussion of Members Points Only one member, Maj Gen C Govindaswamy, had submitted points for discussion. These have been presented in the previous paragraphs and the responses from the President indicated against each. The discussion and decisions taken on the points are also recorded. Details are as under: Do not Increase Subscription In the last AGM, annual subscription was increased from Rs 300 to Rs 400. This was approved by our General Body and implemented from FY 13-14. Maj Gen Govindaswamy seeks decrease of the annual subscription from the existing Rs 400 to Rs 300. The ramifications of this decrease were explained to the members by the President. Members and their wives (and sometimes their guests) are now paying Rs 75 each for lunch per meeting. The cost of lunch is Rs 125 per person. If a member and his wife attend six meetings in a year, the subsidy element is Rs 50 × 2 × 6 = Rs 600. When we collect Rs 400 per member as membership fee, we extend a subsidy of Rs 200 to him. If we send him Newsletters by post, we give him another subsidy of Rs 20 × 6 = Rs 120. Is it fair to propose a reduction in the membership subs to Rs 300? This question to the members was responded with a loud and firm “NO ’ by the members. Decision: From 01 Apr 2013, the membership fee will continue to be Rs 400 per annum. No change required. Rethink Life Time Subs: Maj Gen C Govindaswamy suggested a review of the need for LTS particularly in light of the fact that the Association is financially well off. President explained that LTS is not to raise money. On the contrary, it is to use the available financial strength of the Association to extend benevolence to our aging members. He then presented a detailed explanation of the Scheme as given in the paragraphs below: The Scheme of Life Time Subscription 1. We have had wide consultations over the last one year. There is general agreement that LTS will help matters in myriad ways. Based on your guidance and our inputs, the Management Committee with the help of the views from many of our members, after several iterations, have devised a table for LTS as shown below: Age LTS Less than 35 Rs 8000 >35 and <40 Rs 7500 >40 and <45 Rs 7000 >45 and <50 Rs 6500
