Page 48 of 61 OBITUARY Col A Krishnaswami, VrC, VSM** made an announcement of the passing of Smt Vasanthi Swaminathan, wife of Brig VR Swaminathan, our very senior member who was involved with the Association right from its inception. They had moved from Chennai to Coimbatore recently and had just settled down when tragedy struck The house stood to two minutes silence in memory of the departed soul. NEW MEMBERS The following new members were welcomed into the Association: (a) Brig Raj Kapoor, AOC (b) Col Bhupinder Singh, Engrs (c) Col S Ashok Kumar, AEC (d) Col R Ganesan, Sigs (e) Lt Col Jaya Kumar, Arty MATTERS MILITARY Navy Foundation At the Annual General Body Meeting of the Navy Foundation, Chennai Charter, held on 21 Jul 2013, the following office bearers were elected for the year 2013 -14. President: Commodore (Retd) RB Verma Secretary: Commodore (Retd) S Shekhar. Kargil Diwas Wreath Laying Ceremony was conducted at the War Memorial, Marina Beach Road, at 0800 hrs on 26 July 2013. Wreaths were laid in a solemn function by serving military and retired military personnel. The event was followed by Tea at the MES IB. On the initiative of the students of IIT Madras, Kargil Diwas was celebrated on 26 July 2013 at the IIT Campus. The event started at 1730 hrs, in the Central Lecture Theater with an opening address followed by a question and answer session. At 1830 hrs, tea was served. At 1900 hrs, the participants moved to the Open Air Theater. At 1915 hrs candles were lit by all present. At 1930 hrs, a documentary (DVD) on the Kargil War was screened. A large number of our members participated in this function and made it a great success. MINUTES OF THE AGM HELD ON 27 JUL 2013 General Venue and Time.
