Page 4 of 61 THE NEXT MEET IS ON 20 JAN 2013 The next meeting of the AFVOA is scheduled for Sunday, 20 Jan 2013 at Officers’ Mess of Air Force Station, Avadi. This is our Annual Picnic. We shall assemble at 1000 hrs at the venue and go through a full day’s programme We cordially invite all members and their spouses, their children and grandchildren to take part in the event. Administrative details are given elsewhere in this Newsletter. FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK Dear Members: The Picnic is on 20 Jan 2013. AOC Avadi has very kindly confirmed his active help and support. We plan to make our Picnic a memorable one. As requested earlier, some of our members who work with various enterprises may consider the possibility of sponsoring the prizes. May be a couple of gift hampers, a box of music CDs, a basket of flowers, a few good books, candy or goodies for the kids, the list is endless. Brig Mohan Barathan has offered to sponsor some of the prizes. So also Smt Vijaya Menon. Wish you all and your families a very happy New Year and a wonderful Pongal festival. With best wishes Maj Gen CT Chari MEETING GONE BY: THE MEETING HELD ON 25 NOV 2012 Tombola started bang on time in the last meet. VAS and Lalitha arrived early and the sale of tickets proceeded briskly. A number of interesting variations in the prizes were offered and the excitement was palpable. As the numbers got called there was a hush around the hall and eager faces and sharp eyes got busy scoring the numbers. You could not have got a word edgewise to your neighbour, such was the concentration. All aches and pains were forgotten, all other sundry miseries of living a daily life were forgotten and the mind was at peace with the person and the maker. Such is the near psychic experience when playing our much loved tambola. Lady luck prevailed magnanimously over the Parthasarathy family, who among themselves, took home more than four hundred rupees. New names and new faces came running up to collect their prizes. For all the tension and waiting, the snowball was not claimed and rolled over for our day of the picnic. More excitement then at Avadi on 20 Jan 2013.
