ADDRESS BY PRESIDENT AND PATRON President spoke to the members and their families and reminded them about the next GBM as also the ensuing elections to the Association to elect a new team. He exhorted the members to offer themselves gladly for the service of the Association in the appointments that will fall vacant in June. Patron also echoed the same sentiments and hoped that we will have a good team in the next session 2013-2015. He requested the members to send in their contributions to the Newsletter. He said that he will set the example and send in his contribution in the near future. He requested others to follow suit. OF MATTERS MILITARY RELEASE OF MITRAN Air Force Association, Avadi Chapter has brought out a Newsletter titled Mitran . The first issue of this publication was released by Smt Smita Bapat, the first lady of Air Force Station, Avadi The function was held on 14 Apr 2013. The contents will be of interest to veterans of all the three Services and is being made available free of cost. The release ceremony was followed by a song and dance evening to welcome “Vijaya”, the Tamil New Year. Kudos to Wg Cdr (Retd) K Parthasarathi, VSM, President, Avadi Chapter and his team for this initiative. He is also a member of our Association. A useful compilation. http://irfc-nausena. nic.in/irfc/desa/sainik rest pdf DEMISE OF R Adm PP SIVAMANI, AVSM, NM (Gal) We regret to intimate the demise of R Adm PP Sivamani AVSM NM (Gal) on 11 Apr 2013 at Fortis Malar Hospital, Chennai. He is survived by his wife, Leela, son, a, DIG in the Coast Guard HQ in Delhi and a daughter. Tele No 044-24918723. R.Adm Sivamani was from the 8th Course of the NDA. He was from the Navigation and Direction branch of the Indian Navy. He played a stellar role in the Indo Pak War of 1971, off the coast of Bangladesh, as the Fleet Navigating Officer and won the decoration. On behalf of the members of the AFVOA, condolences have been conveyed to the bereaved family.
