(c) Mrs Sheila Raju w/o Late Brig VK Raju (Engrs) We pray for the peace of the departed souls. We convey our condolences to the members of the family. HONOURING OUR OCTOGENARIANS WHO WERE NOT ABLE TO ATTEND OUR MEETING ON 28 JUL 2012 In keeping with our decision to honour octogenarians, both members and their wives, we had invited five members (incl one lady member) and three spouses to our meet on 28 Jul 2012. One member, Col M Venkataraman and one spouse, Ms Sarojini Kasturi Raj could not attend since they were bed-ridden. It was decided that the President and the Vice-President will visit the homes of the two octogenarians and honour them there. This was done on 6 Aug 2012. Col M Venkataraman was very sick. He was very happy to meet the members. He raised himself from his bed and accepted the memento with a smile. Col Venkataraman did not live very long thereafter. Sadly, he passed away on 15 Aug 2012. Ms Sarojini Kasturi Raj was her usual cheerful self. She got out of her bed with some difficulty and sat on a chair. She was then honoured with a ‘ponnadai’ shawl. She had arranged for some snacks for us and even in her severely impaired state of health, her hospitality was spot on. Recently, Lt Col Kasturi Raj sent us a note that we reproduce below:
