AFVOA Newsletters of Year 2012

Page 55 of 80 Purchase of wreaths, bouquets, shawls for our octogenarians etc has come under Welfare. Hire of transport for conveyance of members to meet special requirements has come under Travelling and Conveyance. TDS and IT Return The interest on FDs is substantial and the banks are mandated to deduct TDS in the absence of Form 15 G or 15H. We have two choices. We can ask the banks not to deduct TDS by giving Form 15G or 15H, quoting the “principle of mutuality” by treating the annual subscriptions as donations from members to the Association ( this had been discussed threadbare with an independent auditor , who was invited to attend our Executive Committee meeting). In the alternative, we should file the IT return and ask for refund of the TDS. For the present we are below the limits of taxable income, and hence we can get the refund of the TDS, which stands at Rs. 16,459/= for financial year ending 31 Mar 2012. Treasurer: Noted and all out efforts will be made to sort out the issues. Passing of Accounts 2011-2012. There being no other points of observation on the accounts, the accounts were proposed to be passed by Brig VA Subramanyam. This was seconded by Maj Chitrapu. Appointment of Auditors for the FY 2012-2013 It was recommended by the President that Messrs Bhaskar Shenoy and Co be appointed as auditors for the FY 2012-2013. This was proposed by Wg Cdr Rajagopalan and seconded by Gp Capt Mohan Das. Discussion of Members Points Points as received from members were discussed and recorded under relevant heads. The discussion and decisions taken on the points are also recorded. Details are as under: Increasing the Lunch/Dinner contribution from Rs 25 to Rs 50 . Brig NB Subramanian submitted that the pricing of lunch/dinner will be one of the attractions for members to attend AFVOA meets. At the present, order of lunch for about 100 persons per meet, a concession of Rs 25/- per head will cause an additional expenditure of Rs 2,500 per meet; while the same at Rs 50 /- per head, the expenditure will be Rs 5,000, which is not much and is affordable from the members’ own subscription. We hold five meets per year ( the sixth one being picnic). So, the yearly expenditure on this account works out to the order of Rs 25,000 / - for extending concession @ Rs 50 /- per head. With our collection of Rs 82,000 as subscription, and admin expenditure much less than Rs 20,000 /- per year, enough margin is available to pitch in for the meal at Rs
