Page 48 of 80 AVM PS Rajagopalan, AVSM was born 28 Nov 1930. He joined the AE(L) branch of the Indian Air Force in April 1954 after passing out from MIT, Chennai. In 1957 the officer was sent to UK for training in advanced Aircraft Navigation Radar fitted in the then recently inducted Canberra bomber aircraft. In 1962, he was sent to Congo, in Africa, as part of United Nations Peace Keeping Force along with a Canberra squadron. Immediately, after the 1965 war, AVM Rajagopalan was selected to join a Post Graduate course at the College of Aeronautics at Cranfield, UK.. Based on the thesis submitted, the officer was awarded an MS degree by the College. AVM Rajagopalan was the first ground duty officer to be posted in 1983 as the Station Commander of the largest Training Establishment (over 6000 trainees) at Bangalore. He commanded the Station for more than two years. In 1985 he was posted as Director of Signals at Air HQ. He retired in December 1986. Major CA Parthasarathy was born on 29 Sep 1931. He was commissioned into the Corps of Signals on 06 Jun 1954. He retired, on superannuation, on 30 Sep 1981. In Aug 1983, he was re-employed in Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Madras Circle as Security Officer. He served there for six yrs and retired, for the second time, on superannuation in Oct 1989. Madras Circle covered Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala. In addition he was given an additional charge of the Museum at Halebid. ASI celebrated their 150th anniversary on 23 Feb 2012. The Madras Circle of ASI invited Maj Parthasarathy for this function as a special guest and honoured him along with 15 other retired officers of ASI. His association with the ASI was only for six years and he had retired from there 22 years back. Apparently, he had left an indelible mark on the ASI and they remembered him for his outstanding services. On the occasion his Excellency, the Governor of Tamil Nadu, presented him with a shawl, a beautiful memento (shore Temple of Mahabalipuram), a certificate and a large medallion. At this point, AVM Rajagopalan announced a contribution to the AFVOA of Rs 10000 . Cheque for this amount was handed over to the President. Thanking him for this generous donation, the President appreciated the gesture. The members assembled gave him a big hand.
