NEWSMAKERS Brigadier CR Suryanarayanan, VSM (Retd), our eldest member (95 years) is not only respected for his free charitable service to the community, but also for his continued interest in matters military and social causes. He is invited to address several forums and he drives his car with confidence to reach the venue in time, to the utter surprise of the organizers. His knowledge on Nuclear Medicine which is his speciality is very comprehensive. Dr MGR University of Chennai recently honoured him with the coveted “Life Time Achievement Award”. It was a proud moment and members of the AFVOA congratulate him on this honour that has been bestowed on him An article on him and his achievements appeared in the Chennai edition of the Indian Express dated 29 May 2012. +++ Col N. Viswanathan (Retd), one of our founder members, deserves our appreciation and congratulations. At his age of 70+, he successfully completed the arduous and adventurous trip to visit lake Manasarovar and complete the Parikrama of Mount Kailas in Tibet. A rare feat of endurance, grit and determination. An interesting blog on his trip is well presented.
