The Fixed Deposits are with ICICI Bank-Rs 7.5 Lakhs and SBI- Rs 6 Lakhs totalling to Rs 13.5 lakhs, an increase of Rs 1.5 Lakhs due to recent investments. Most of it is fetching an interest of 9.25% currently. We are also taking measures to curtail expenditure on the publication and distribution of Newsletters which works to about Rs.20/- per copy, depending on the number of pages. Members connected with E mail facility are happy to read the Newsletter on their computer screens and be a part of the “Green Initiative” adopted by the President. Presently we are printing only 70 copies of the News Letter and with your cooperation we could reduce the number. We have planned for the New editions of our publications Hello Veterans 2013 and possibly a new version of Navodhya during our tenure of office and funds will have to be provided for the project. Payment of Subscription-2012-13 Members are requested to clear their subscription dues by crossed cheques ONLY, payable to Armed Forces Veteran officer’s Association (in Full and NOT AFVOA) at the earliest. In future, please note that when members hand over cheques, they endorse their Email ids and mobile /Land Line phone numbers on the obverse of their cheques in order to link up and enable the association to build our data base. Mob phone numbers are also required to send text messages in future. Outstanding Dues of Subscriptions-2011-12 Although there are quite a few members who are yet to pay the subscriptions for the year 2011-12, the association does not wish to lose the membership of even a single member. We patiently wait for your subscription to reach us. Surely you would appreciate the attendant problems of accounting and documentation. In order to help out the association, you are welcome to pay the subscription for say two years at the current rate of Rs 300/- per annum, in advance. This is subject to there being no increase of the rates in the future. You are also welcome to send your views on Life time Subscriptions and the attendant issues involved, to enable a healthy discussion and subsequent decision by the AFVOA. Matters Military The Meeting of ECHS, convened by Col M Durairaj, OIC Polyclinic, New MH Complex, was held as scheduled. The Meeting was attended by Maj Gen CT Chari, Maj Gen K Chattaraman, Lt Col T Arunagiri, Col KV Balakrishnan, Col KS Chakravarthi, Brig Muthulaxmi, Surg Capt CV Natarajan, Lt Cdr K Rajagopal (ex OIC Polyclinic) Sgt D Walter, Wg Cdr Perumal, LT (Hony) K Kaliappan, PO Kannan and Col TN Raman. Salient Points of the meeting are given below: 1. Col M Durairaj welcomed the gathering and appreciated the efforts taken by the AFVOA to bring more cohesiveness in the functioning of the Polyclinic. The last quarterly Meeting held by the Comdt MH, in Feb 2012, did not evince proper response, probably due to lack of publicity. The next Clientele Satisfaction Meeting is scheduled on 11 May 2012. 2. He said that there are nearly 30,000 dependents on this Polyclinic. On an average 200 patients visit the Polyclinic daily and on Saturdays and Mondays, this figure rises to 250.
