We all have the ability. The difference is, how we use it. Obituary Members stood in silence to pay homage the departed soul of Maj A Francis Xavier Signals, who was interned on 6 Aug 2011 in Quibble Island Cemetry Chennai. Arrival of Chief Guest With the arrival of the OffgGOC, Maj Gen Jamwal, a jubilant mood set in for the cake cutting ceremony. The patron gave his welcome speech to the august gathering. A brief history of the Association and its activities were unfolded by the President. He made a special mention of the help/assistance rendered by theAreaHQ to the association in organising the bi monthly meetings. A large sized Eggless cake with appropriate icing to celebrate the17th anniversary was organised by Mrs UshaSubramaniam, wife of Col RI Subramaniam. The beautiful cake was cut by Mrs. Rajam Sundararao accompanied by Mrs. Lakshmi Pattabhiraman and other ladies. The cake was a huge piece and volunteer ladies very gracefully stepped in for slicing and distribution. A massive effort indeed which was very neatly executed. A first time effort undertaken to ensure that every one is served the same cake. The surplus reached even the drivers in the car park to celebrate the event. Mrs. Lalitha Mohandas and her team kept audience enthralled with their lilting music, while the soup was being served. Lt. Col. M. Narayanan, our former Treasurer engaged the audience with his old tamil numbers while the dinner was being laid. The officiating GOC had to leave early before dinner, due to prior commitments. However, the other guests stayed on. The dinner was served in two separate counters for ease of distribution. The “MALPUAO” pudding and the ice cream indicated the happy ending of the anniversary meet. An eventful day to remember. Obituary We regret to intimate the demise of Brig RC Mehta, VSM, Engrs on 15 Sep 2011 May the lord grant the family all the strength to bear this irreparable loss. We pray for the soul to rest in peace. Programme of events The committee has chosen the Palm Grove Sainik Institute as the venue for our meet on 5 Nov 2011.In order to catch the eye of the veterans, the brief “Notice of the Meeting” has been included in the front page of the News Letter. Holding the “Day Meeting” is to enable our elderly members get the opportunity for easy interaction. We are also aware, that some amongst us have taken on jobs/assignments and they would only be able to attend the Saturday meet on 5 Nov, if they take the day off. We request them to kindly plan as such and attend the meet. We want you to give it an honest try.
