For example, our last meeting was our Annual Picnic in which almost all members took part enthusiastically along with their families and guests. Our next meeting which is stated for 20 Mar 2011 will be a cultural meet for which arrangements are already in progress. This will be followed by our AGM in the month of Jun on the third Sunday thereof. During the AGM, elections will be held for new office bearers which will be followed by change of guard leading to a new era in the second decade of existence of our Association. See you all on 20 Mar 2011. A Special Request to Members: In case you are changing your address, phone / cell number or your e-mail ID please do let us know so that we can update your information. From the President’s Desk The year 2011 for the Veterans of the AFVOA and their families has begun well with Annual Picnic at Camp Gloria. It is heartening to acknowledge from those attended the picnic that everyone’s participation was commendable. We thank the Executive Committee members and other supporting Veterans for the untiring efforts put in by them. We have to specially thank our HQ ATNK and K area Officers and staff for the transport and other vital administrative support rendered for the picnic. The outdoor and indoor activities were well balanced and were enthusing. The food arrangements and their preparation were generally to one’s taste and timely. One of the significant facts about the picnic was the ‘Time Management’ and every programme was compeered and monitored without overlap maintaining equal importance to the events. Mr and Mrs Thomas George, the owners of Camp Gloria were honoured very aptly. The memento that we presented at the meet would go a long way to remind everyone of the AFVOA existence and our friendly association of a decade with Camp Gloria authorities through late Major Thomas, a World War II Veteran. It was very kind of Thomas family to have presented a memento to the AFVOA marking their respect for the Veterans and their families. We love to maintain our relationship with them with stronger and deeper sentiments. Lieutenant General (Retd) BK Chengapa, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, was given a farewell Adieu, on his superannuation, at the General’s office by the Executive Committee members on behalf of the AFVOA and was presented a memento signifying our appreciation for the kind heartedness displayed towards Veterans and AFVOA Members. We wish him good luck in his post retirement life. We are happy to inform that the General, on our request, readily agreed to give the adjacent Room to the present AFVOA office in the old MH Complex for carrying out AFVOA activities and gave due instructions to the Station Commander. Station Commander has, accordingly, handed over the additional room to us. AFVOA Members are very happy that Major General Jamwal, on promotion, has assumed the appointment of ‘Chief Of Staff, ATNK& K Area. Presently, the General is also reigning the Area activities in the official capacity as the General Officer
