With the advent of the New Year, now that the computer facility has been established, we hope to make the AFVOA Premises at Old MH Complex more Member friendly by establishing a Library. IT on Arrears of Pension. Most of the Veteran Officers have received arrears of pension based on 6 th Pay Commission Recommendations, as amended, 40 % in FY 2008 - 2009 and 60 % in FY 2009-2010. Maj Gens and equivalents, in addition, would have received arrears refixing their pension after favourable Supreme Court Verdict. This amount will carry 10 % interest also. IT on the arrears accruing thus, if declared in FY 2009-2010 alone, may work out substantial. It is advisable to consult an Auditor and distribute the arrears in respective years in which these were due and rework the tax liability in those years. There will be attractive savings in IT. Johann W Goethe MATTERS MILITARY On 16 Dec 2009, on the occasion of Vijay Divas the ESM of Chennai paid their homage to the Martyrs, at the War Memorial on the Marina Beach Road. Veterans of all three Services took part in a solemn ceremony to salute those brave souls who laid down their lives in the service of the nation during the 1971 Indo- Pak war. Wreaths were laid on behalf of the AFVOA, IESM and Vetrans of the Army, Air Force and Navy. Our thanks go to HQ ATNK Area & 5 JAK RIF Bn for extending help and cooperation.
