The much awaited Cultural Meet was held on 21 March 2010. Members and their families were privileged to listen to songs of yester-years. Many Veterans and their spouses met the Artists after the programme and conveyed their appreciation. A permanent stage is a necessity for organizing entertainment programmes. If a permanent stage having dimensions 40’ x 30’ x 2’6” is constructed in PGEP, it will save a lot of effort for erecting temporary structures. Annual General Body Meeting proposed to be held in May will now be held in July 2010. This would facilitate finalization of Accounts and the mandatory audit by the Chartered Accountant. Adequate time would also be available to send notice for conduct of Annual General Body Meeting. Audited accounts will be sent to all members in June 2010. It has been decided in the last Executive Committee Meeting that Bi-monthly Meetings will be held on the third Sunday of May, July, September, November and March each year. The Annual Picnic will be held on the first Sunday of January, each year. Thus our next meeting will be held on 16 May 2010. Members without waiting for the News Letter can now plan to attend the Bi-monthly Meetings / Picnic. Going through a pocket size Booklet printed in 1940, I am amazed that so many of the hints given in the Booklet are relevant today, even though Six Decades have gone by. The Booklet titled “THOU SHALL NOT”, was printed in 1940 by Gale & Polden Limited, Aldershot, Great Britain. Hints given in the Booklet are listed at Appendix to this News Letter. IMA/OTA and other Institutions of the Navy and Air Force may consider issue of similar hints to newly Commissioned Officers, duly incorporating changes to suit the present day environment.
