Sharon Olds Meeting Gone By BiMonthly Meeting Gone By The Bi-monthly meeting gone by on 19 Apr 2009 was a gala affair with cultural performance by our members and families displaying their latent talents. It was held in two parts. The first part was the tambola and this was followed by the Cultural Show. Tambola Two houses of Tambola were played. In the First House the Top Line was taken by Mrs Ammini Babukuttan for Rs. 100. Mrs Renuka Chandran won the Center Line and gained Rs. 100. The Bottom Line of Rs. 100 went to Mrs Lakshmi Ravi who also won Rs. 200 for the First Full House. Mrs Vasanthi Mathew walked away with the Second Full House which earned her Rs. 100. In the Second one the Jaldi Five was won by Mrs. Ramani. The Kings Corner was taken by Mrs Sathya Oberoi whereas the Queens Corner went to Mr Ramasamy who also took the Second Full House. Bamboo was snatched by Mrs. Prasanna while Gen Jain and Mrs Chattaraman shared the First Full House. The Third Full House was claimed by Mrs Susan Thomas. All prizes were worth Rs. 100 except the First Full House fetched Rs. 400 and the Second one was of Rs. 200. Snow Ball of Rs. 1,200 in 51 counts has been carried over. For organizing the Tambola our sincere thanks go to Brig VA Subramanyam and to Mrs Usha Sundar who ably assisted the Brigadier. Sallust Cultural Show RING SIDE VIEW OF THE MUSICAL NITE HELD ON 19 APR 2009 By Brig VA Subramanyam The last meeting of the AFVOA was a Musical Nite the first of its kind in the 15 year history of the Association. The first in the sense that for the first time all the artists were either members themselves or part of their immediate family. Earlier, the only other occasion when we had a musical evening was when a professor came and gave us a lec/demo on classical music. Around ten items had been planned. And two persons had volunteered to introduce the items and the participants and act as the Master of Ceremonies. The programme was scheduled to be held at the usual Palm Grove Sports Complex. A nice stage had been set up for the purpose and sound system had been hired. On account of the distances involved and traffic conditions rehearsals were a problem but it was surmounted.
