Bi-monthly meeting was held at the Palm Grove Ecological Park and Sports Complex, Island Grounds on Sunday, 08 Jun 2008. It was our Annual General Meeting. 2. The meeting commenced at 1800h with Tambola which was conducted by Brig VA Subramanyam assisted by Mrs. Usha Sundar. Two Houses were played with Snow Ball of Rs. 850/- in 47 counts. In the First House the Top Line was won by Mrs. Kalyani Narayanan, the Centre Line by Col Chennaian and the bottom Line by Mrs. Mohana Rao. Each of the winners received a prize of Rs. 50/-. In the Second House the Jaldi Five of Rs. 100/- was won by Brig Miss Durga Bai. Jonah of Rs. 110/- was shared by Mrs. Vijayalakshmi, Mrs. Govindaswamy and Air Cmde Rajaram. Full House of Rs. 300/- was won by Ms. Jyothi Raja, whereas, the Out House of Rs. 100/- was won, once again by Brig Miss. Durga Bai. The Snow Ball was carried over. After the Tambola the AGM was conducted. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 3. At 1910 h on 08 Jun 2008 the Annual General Meeting was brought to order by the Secretary. Opening Address by the President. 4. The President in his opening address welcomed all present to the 14 th Annual General Meeting. He started by thanking all members for having taken active part in each and every activity of the Association. It was entirely due to the interest shown by the members that the Association has gained such a good name due to which our Association stands today as the bench mark and brand owner of all such Veteran officers’ associations. He mentioned that our activities and conduct of events have attracted wide spread attention so much so that the higher echelon of the serving fraternity have considered actively encouraging the establishment and growth of such an association as ours in every station. 5. Next, he proceeded to thank Maj Gen EJ Kochekkan, AVSM, SM, VSM, GOC ATNK&K Area who like his predecessors before him had always extended a caring hand towards us. He and his staff officers were ever forthcoming in meeting all our requirement. He had also been kind enough to attend our Annual Picnic at the beginning of the year and joined us during the events. 6. He also thanked Lt Gen Noble Thamburaj, SM, GOC-in-C Southern Command who amongst his busy schedule found time to grace us with his presence during our bi Monthly meeting on 13 Apr 2008. His visit was further made memorable by the excellent arrangements made for the meeting by the Area HQ at the Area Mess. 7. Regarding membership he mentioned that there had been only a fractional increase. On this he remarked that more and more efforts have to be made to bring retirees into our fold. 8. One of the highlights of our activities, he said was the series of lectures we have been organizing in which speakers have been bringing us up to date about the current thinking in the services, In this series we have already heard lectures by Lt Gen S Pattabhiraman, PVSM,
