The list of recommendations was sent directly to the Commission on 31 Dec 2007 by e-mail with hard copies to Ex-Servicemen Dte, Tamil Nadu, Chairman(CPC), AG(Army), COP(Navy), AOA (AF), GOC, HQ ATNK&K Area and AOsC AF Stns Avadi & Tambaram. The CPC had promptly acknowledged receipt of our recommendations on 01 Jan 2007. List of recommendations has already been communicated to all members who have registered their e-mail IDs with the Association. A few copies will be made available on request to other members, if required, during the bi-monthly meeting on 11 Mar 2007. Late News A communication just received in writing from the Secretariat of the 6 th CPC says that the Pay Commission will be visiting Chennai on 06 Mar 2007 and will hold its meeting. It has intimated that AFVOA should present its recommendations before the Commission on 06 Mar 2007. The ECHS clientele meeting held on 01 Feb 2007 at Stn HQ, Chennai, was chaired by Maj Gen RK Kalra, Managing Director, ECHS. In addition to the Stn Cdr, Director, Regional Centre, OsC Mil Hosp Avadi & Chennai and all Os i/c Polyclinics in Tamil Nadu. The AFVOA was represented by Maj Gen C Govindaswamy, Brig VA Subramanyam, Brig NB Subramanian, Brig (Mrs) K Muthulaxmy, Brig SP Balachandran, Gp Capt V Palanisamy, Lt Col LRA Narayan, Wg Cdr Parthasarathy and Wg Cdr Ravi Mani. 65. Prior to the date of meeting, points were called for from members through the e-mail but only 8 members responded. These points along with other common points were discussed during the above meeting. Details of salient decisions given by MD, ECHS are given below for the information of all members:- (a) ECHS Polyclinics have been authorized to issue up to 90 days’ requirement of medicines at a time to chronic patients, to avoid frequent visits subject to availability of medicines in stock. However, MHs will continue to issue medicines only up to 30 days. (b) Special permission has been given to some MI Rooms to function as “Armed Forces Augmented MI Rooms” which means that they will cover ECHS patients also. (c) If a member of a particular ECHS Polyclinic needs to take treatment from another ECHS Polyclinic (outstation), a Temporary Attachment Certificate (TAC) will be needed from the parent Polyclinic. (d) The stipulation that “Emergency treatment of a dependant member of ECHS in a civil hospital should be notified to O i/c parent Polyclinic within 48 hrs” means two working days ( Sundays and holidays excluded ).
