Page 75 of 77 Appendix ‘A’ (Refers to Para 23 ) ASSURED DECENT LAST RITES (ADLR) SCHEME ( Extract from the SOP issued by Army HQ ) 1. The ADLR Scheme is an endeavour to ensure that all willing veterans are provided an honourable funeral as a befitting tribute / farewell from the army side during their “Last Journey”. This Scheme has been approved by the COAS and was also discussed during the Army Commanders’ Conference in Apr 2006. 2. Eligibility. All willing veterans including Officers, JCOs & OR and their widows, holding valid Canteen cards will be eligible for ADLR Scheme. 3. Registration of Veterans. All willing Veterans are required to register themselves for the above Scheme with their allotted CSD Canteen by providing the following info:- (a) Army No, Rank & Name. (b) Corps/Unit. (c) Age. (d) Canteen Card No. (e) Name of Spouse with Age/NOK. (f) Address with telephone/Contact No. (g) Alternate telephone No. of friend/neighbour. (h) Religion. (j) Willingness 4. Procedure/Sequence of Action. The under mentioned procedure/sequence of action will be taken:- (a) On receipt of information of the demise of a veteran through telephone or otherwise, the field staff will go to the residence of the deceased, at the earliest possible time frame. (b) The field staff will carry with them the required cash to assist the family in organizing decent last rites, a list of veterans of the locality and the wreath. (c) The field staff will assist the family in organizing a decent last rites. In the absence of the NOK or on request from the family, they will also take on the responsibility of organizing the last rites. (d) The field staff will lay the wreath on behalf of the COAS and maintain photographic record.
