The following were declared unanimously elected as Office bearers for the years 2006 – 07:- (a) President - Maj Gen R Karthikeyan (b) Vice President - Air Cmde SK Jayarajan, AVSM, VSM (c) Secretary - Brig SP Balachandran (d) Treasurer - Col P Samuel Raj (e) Lady Member - Brig (Mrs) K Muthulaxmi (f) Member - Maj Gen C Govindaswamy (g) Member - Cdr SR Prasad 16. The Returning Officer complimented the audience for enabling him to conduct the election in a free, fair, dignified and transparent manner. He pronounced the proposed members as having been duly elected to the posts for the year 2006 – 07. He requested the new team to occupy the allotted chairs on the dais to symbolize the acceptance of responsibilities. Thereupon the new team proceeded towards the dais and occupied their respective chairs to the thunderous applause of the audience. 17. The Secretary thanked the assembled audience for their cooperation in ensuring the smooth conduct of the AGM. He thereafter requested the Patron to say a few words. 18. Patron’s address. The Patron, Lt Gen C Sundara Rao congratulated the Committee for the manner in which the AGM was conducted and also complimented the audience for their cooperation. He expressed his satisfaction over the achievements of the previous committee and wished the new one all the very best in all its future endeavours. 19. Air Cmde S Kalyanaraman’s address. Air Cmde S Kalyanaraman gave a brief about the agricultural project at Tiruvannamalai, started by Lt Col D Ranganathan. Due to old age problems of the latter he requested for volunteers to join the project to keep it going. 20. Arrival of guests. On arrival of Maj Gen KK Kohli, AVSM, VSM, Commandant, OTA and his Staff Officers with families, the President welcomed and thanked them for having accepted our invitation and being present for the meeting. The Patron handed over the memento, a copy of “Hello Veterans 2004” and a copy of the latest Newsletter to Gen Kohli. The President later requested Maj Gen R Karthikeyan to deliver his talk on the “Core Group concept”. 21. Talk on Core Group concept. Maj Gen R Karthikeyan, explained briefly the purpose, necessity and benefits of the concept stressing the importance of introducing it at the earliest. He said that it would form part of ‘Suryasthaman’, a publication which is in its final stages before going to the press. Finally he requested all the members to fill up the format given to them and return the same to the Executive Committee at the earliest to make the concept functional. 22. Address by Maj Gen KK Kohli . Gen Kohli at the very outset thanked the President and all members for extending an invitation to him and his Staff to attend the meeting. He said that he did not know of the existence of such an Association in Chennai till Gen Karthikeyan briefed him. He expressed his appreciation on the activities of the Association and with special reference to the talk given by Gen Karthikeyan on the Core Group concept. He wished the Association all success in future.
