As a spin off, we have come up with a concept of “Core Groups,” which by self support will help us to understand the implications of the future and prepare us mentally and physically for all eventualities. Core Group: Definition 53. Core Group is a mutually and intimately interested set of people, may or may not be all AFVOA members, but at least having one or two veterans other than you. The group functions on Either or Survivor basis interaction, with the others of the same group. The aim being to fulfill the role of “friend in need”, especially in emergency situations. Eligibility Considerations 54. Each Core Group is expected to be composed and comprised of persons fulfilling the following criteria: (a) Mutual confidence, faith and dependability. (b) Trustworthiness and access to personal information. (c) Physical and geographic proximity. (d) Good communication links, duplicated and triplicated. (e) Frequency of contact and interaction. (f) Age differential- Some younger veterans in older groups Stages of Evolution Stage 1- Creation of awareness, understanding and appreciation of its need and filling up of initial feedback format. Stage 2- Receiving of Core Group proposals as per feedback format, plotting and establishing overlap of members in more than one group. Balancing the groups into viable and functional action oriented entities. Stage 3- Issue of checklists and SOPs to each group. Stage 4- Networking- intra and inter group. Stage 5- Identification of specialists in various areas of future interaction, help and guidance. The list includes: (a) Medical advice (b) Legal advice (c) Pay allowances and taxation expertise (d) Domestic harmony counseling specialists (e) Yoga, meditation and spiritualism (f) Recreation, pastimes and hobbies Stage 6- Dovetailing with Army help-line network to provide our expertise for their benefit and to update our own service related information.
