Our sympathies to the bereaved family members. Matters Financial 51. Pension A/C. Instructions have been issued by the concerned authorities to all the Nationalised Banks that the pension A/C could be held in the joint names of the pensioner and his/her spouse. Members are advised to contact their respective Banks for the needful. 52. Refund of Medical Allowance . Instructions have been received by ECHS HQ to all Banks to debit the Medical Allowance of Rs. 100/- paid to Officers through their Pension accounts in case of not utilising medical facilities from dependent MHs. Consequent to an Officer joining the ECHS Scheme such an allowance is not admissible from the date of his joining the Scheme. As such ECHS HQ have intimated all Banks to recover the over payment made after the due date. 53. Some of the Banks have not understood the above instructions correctly and have recovered the amount even when such an allowance was not paid. Officers are advised to check their pension accounts and intimate the bank staff of the correct position. “The best of us must sometimes eat our words.”
