Page 66 of 75 16. Game for the elder Ladies. Mrs. Chitkala Govindaswamy conducted an interesting game (memory test) for ten ladies, the qualification being that they should be over 60 years young. The participants included Mrs. Sundara Rao, Mrs. Rajagopalan, Mrs. Ramaswamy, Mrs. Chandrasekharan, Mrs. Jaya Krishnaswamy, Brig (Mrs) K Muthulaxmi, Mrs. Subbiah, Mrs. Amirthalingam, Mrs. Sathya Oberoi and Mrs. Kasturi Raj. The prize for the game was won by Brig (Mrs) K Muthulaxmi. The audience enjoyed all through the conduct of the game as it was a novel one. 17. Welcoming to the fold. The Secretary introduced the following new members:- (a) Brig S Rajagopalan, EME (b) Lt Col S Jayasree, MNS (c) Sqn Ldr Unni Nair (d) Capt Oomen, Sujit Mathew, Arty (e) Mrs Sathya Oberoi, w/o Late Brig Oberoi, GR 18. Complimentary. The Secretary complimented the following:- (a) Col & Mrs RI Subramaman, for it was their Wedding Anniversary. (b) Lt Gen C Sundara Rao for his Birthday the following day, i.e. 29 Aug 2005. All Members and families present cheered and joined him in wishing them very many happy returns of the days. 19. Respects to the Departed. The Secretary announced that the following Members and close relatives of a few others had passed away and a minute’s silence was observed as a mark of respect:- (a) Smt GS Subbulakshmi, Mother of Lt Col TG Venkatesh. (b) Lt Col MR Raja, AOC. (c) Maj S Swaminathan, Sigs. (d) Mrs. Bala Ramadurai, w/o Wg Cdr V Ramadurai. 20. Talk by the President. The President spoke on the following aspects:- (a) ECHS. GOC, ATNK&K Area has been taking a lot of interest in the welfare of the Ex-Servicemen, with particular reference to the ECHS which has been facing a lot of teething problems. Nevertheless, his personal involvement has resulted in a lot of improvment in terms of additional accommodation in the Polyclinic, installation of ACs, posting of the authorized staff, provision of medicines, etc. The President however, requested the Members to appreciate the system and sought the co-operation of everyone in exercising restraint in case of any unavoidable shortcomings. (b) Joint Account for Pension. The Govt has cleared the proposal to have the spouse as the joint account holder for the pension account which was hitherto-fore only a single account in the name of the pensioner. He said that all those interested may like to contact their respective Banks in this regard. (c) Confirmation of attendance. Usually the Newsletter carries a note to all Members asking them to confirm their attendance for meetings to any one of the office bearers by a certain date with the aim of planning the administrative arrangements especially the dinner. It has however been noted that the inputs keep trickling till the
