Come June-July and it is the festive marriage season. Six of our Members solemnized the weddings of their dear children. Apart from a number of our Members who had attended the following weddings to bless the newly weds, the AFVOA also takes this opportunity to wish the couples the very best for a long and happy married life:- (a) Cdr & Mrs. L Radhakrishnan celebrated the wedding of their son, Dr. R Venkataraman with Dr. Priya on 02 Jun 2005. (b) Lt Col & Mrs. VC Subramanian celebrated the wedding of their son, Mr. VS Venkataraman with Miss K Ramya on 27 Jun 2005. (c) Lt Col & Mrs Visveswaran celebrated the wedding of their son, Major Karthick with Miss Arthi on 04 Jul 2005. (d) Col & Mrs D Davidson celebrated the wedding of their daughter, Miss Pauline with Mr. Vivian on 06 Jul 2005. (e) Maj & Mrs Joy Koruthu celebrated the wedding of their daughter, Miss Nitya with Mr. Renjit on 11 Jul 2005. (f) Brig & Mrs NB Subramanian celebrated the wedding of their son, Mr. Vijay with Miss. Divya on 14 Jul 2005. 23. Retired-cum-Serving Officers’ Association at Pune . An association has been formed since January 2004 for the ex-NDA retired officers, who are settled in Pune. This association now has over 200 members. 24. The first ever get-together of this Pune ex-NDA Alumni Association saw a flying start with over 90 officers and their families meeting at the RSI complex on 07 Aug 05 (Sunday) The meeting was a trip down memory lane with both retired and serving officers, representing 56 years of NDA history. “This is a good beginning and shows that the spirit of service officers is maintained after retiring. We also have a meeting of the Alumni Association once a year at the NDA,” said NDA Commandant Lt Gen A K Chopra. “The tough training at NDA that created men out of boys is the binding force that brings us together,” explained Lt Gen D Ajwani (retd), who joined NDA in January 1955, the year it was shifted to its present campus at Khadakwasla. His views are shared by Lt Gen S K Dovedy (retd), who was from the first course to pass out from NDA when it was based as the JSW at Dehradun “The NDA spirit of ‘Service before Self is the thread that binds us,” adds Lt Gen Dovedy (retd), who is the chairman of the association. 25. Serving officers in the meet were represented by the top brass from Southern Command, including GOC-in-C Lt Gen B S Takhar, Chief of Staff Lt Gen Ashok Kapur and NDA Commandant Lt Gen A K Chopra. The association plans quarterly meetings and hopes to get members from other cities. 26. The membership of this association is now open to serving officers also. Events like intellectual gatherings, visits to NDA, games and sports are organised by the association. The association has a website ( www.myfamily.com) which is open to members only.
