We are reproducing a poem written by Shreya Vijay Chander - the ten year old grand-daughter of Smt Chitkala and Maj Gen C Govindaswamy, in the aftermath of the tsunami disaster. She studies at The German Swiss International School at Hong Kong. This poem was published in the Young Post supplement of The South China Morning Post, the leading English language newspaper of Hong Kong on 12 Jan 2005. THE TREACHEROUS WAVE The Treacherous Wave, A horrible villain from the sea, Drowning anything near coastlines with glee, People trying to flee and to save, Relatives from the waning waters, Dear as Sons and Daughters. The Treacherous Wave, Misery and sadness to clean up later, This could take a Month or greater, Oh, the Tsunami, you knave, Nature's fury not very fair, Has left many in despair. The Treacherous Wave, A heart-breaking and tearful sight, People trying to feel bright, After carrying bodies to the Grave, To leave behind the Disaster, And live with memories of loved ones thereafter. (~ Shreya Chander ~ grand daughter of Smt Chitkala and Maj Gen C Govindaswamy) One cannot buy, rent or hire more time. The supply of time is totally inelastic. No matter how high the demand, the supply will not go up. There is no price for it. Time is totally perishable and cannot be stored. Yesterday's time is gone forever, and will never come back. Time is always in short supply. There is no substitute for time. Everything requires time. All work takes place in, and uses up time. Yet most people take for granted this unique, irreplaceable and necessary resource. ~ Peter F Drucker ~ (1909 – American Management Consultant)
