He announced that as was in vogue, a new committee would take charge of the AFVOA from the next financial year. He mentioned that it was now incumbent upon us to adhere to the specific format of maintaining all documents and accounts, and that in this, the firm that had helped us in getting registered would help us out. Guests of honour 12. Cmde Chitnavis, Commander of the CG Region, South, Mrs Chitnavis, and Mr G Narayanan, Consultant (who had helped in getting the Association registered) were the guests of honour for the evening. Cmde Chitnavis and Mr G Narayanan were presented with the AFVOA memento, and Mrs Chitnavis was presented with a nosegay. Cmde Chitnavis expressed his happiness at being amidst a vibrant and well-knit gathering of retired officers from all the three services. Mr G Narayanan, without whose assistance we would never have been able to navigate successfully through the corridors of off cialdom in the long, arduous, and wearying process of getting our association registered, also spoke and expressed his strong admiration for the Armed Forces, and the pleasure that he derived from being, as he put it, of some small help. The Patron column 13. Lt Gen C Sundara Rao then took the podium to welcome all new members. He mentioned the heightened sense of camaraderie that the AVM had been able to foster, the completion of the registration of the AFVOA, and the completion of the task of re-doing the AFVOA directory, now ready for printing. He also mentioned the issue of the Newsletter which was solely devoted to the ECHS, and which was of great use even to officers from upcountry locations. A gorgeous spread 14. Dinner by Narendra Maharaj was the next item on the agenda, and as usual, thanks to the excellent menu prescribed by Cdr SR Prasad, the gathering went home fully satisfied at an evening well spent.
